Part 2 -
How to cure cystic ACNE overview
The starting point of my recovery from cystic acne was when I realized that acne was an indicator.
It was an indicator telling me that the way I was living, the way I was thinking and what I was putting into my body was no good for it.
I was introduced to this idea by a book called Clear for Life.
It has a very thorough explanation of how acne forms, why it forms and exactly how you can get rid of it. I would highly recommend it to anyone who would like a very complete and scientific explanation on how to cure acne (I am only going to provide a very broad explanation).
What I learnt was, when there is stuff in your body which does not support its growth, the body will expel it. This is mainly the job of the liver, to gather all of the toxins in the body and get rid of it through the excretory system. But when you get to the point where the toxins in your body are too much for the liver to handle on it’s own, it has to resort to the body’s secondary cleansing tools, which include the body’s largest organ, the skin.
So when the body realizes that the liver cannot expel all of the toxins on it’s own, it calls upon the skin to help out. When toxins are trying to escape through the skin on your face, thats when the trouble occurs and acne forms. The same concept applies to teenagers going through puberty, the surge in the production of hormones causes a surplus that the body can’t use and which has to be flushed out of the body. Again, the liver cannot filter it all on its own and again waste must be passed through the skin which causes acne.
So basically you have to do 3 things:
1. Remove the built up toxins in your body
2. Stop putting toxins in your body
3. Allow your body to heal itself
Once you stop overloading the body with toxic materials, the skin will no longer be called upon to remove wastes as the liver will be able to handle it on its own, and as a result no toxins pass through the skin and no new acne is formed.
As for the existing acne, that will take a while to heal so just leave it alone. Remember, your body heals itself. This is true not only for acne but for every disease that can manifest in your body. Just like when you cut your finger, what heals the cut? Your body does, not the band-aid, not the disinfectant. We have ALL been programmed to heal ourselves.
So exactly how do you do these 3 things? Simple! I have broken it down to a few very simple steps:
1. Know the Laws of life
2. Get sufficient sleep
3. Drink plenty of clean water
4. Eat a reasonably healthy diet
5. Minimize alcohol consumption
6. Exercise outdoors everyday
7. Get happy =D
And that’s all!
You don’t need any creams, soaps, scrubs, lotions, and especially medications to get clear. All of those commercial products out there on the market are designed to treat the symptoms and not the root of the problem, in many cases I have found out that they were actually CONTRIBUTING to my acne.
Why do the manufacturers of these products only ATTEMPT to treat the symptoms and not the cause? Because it’s very profitable! Getting rid of the cause means they can’t sell you all of their medications, creams and lotions which generate billions of dollars a year.
Today I use NOTHING on my face, that’s right, I just splash a bit of of water on my face while I’m in the shower being careful not to remove too much of my natural, facial oil. Funny isn’t it? I spent years trying to get rid of facial oil now I’m being careful not to remove it! =D
In my following posts I will give detailed descriptions, tips, and resources on each of the 7 steps I have outlined so stay tuned!
Peace,
The Anonymous Guru

Interesting points dude, I’ve never thought about acne like that before! It’s my body’s way of telling me something is not right with my lifestyle… yeah it’s making sense now. Thanks and hurry up and post the rest of this!

You do make a great point, and in reading your struggle, I can only imagine you started your acne problem as a teenager, 10 to 12 years old, and if it was a 12 year problem, then i imagine you are in your early twenties. I have experienced a very similar struggle, and find this post interesting, (as well as this whole blog) but I have tried to balance those things in life, I eat quite a healthy diet and still find myself with cystic acne. When I say I have tried everything, I have tried everything. I am a happy person, and not as sad about it now as I use to be. I can only hope people look at me for me and not my acne or scars. With all that, I still wish I did not have to suffer with acne. How extreme do I have to be in these laws of sleep, food, exercise etc. It all comes down to balance, and even that, I can’t seem to find enlightenment on the issue.

Hello there my fellow anonymous friend =)
Yes my acne problem started during my mid/late teens and now I am in my late 20’s.
Firstly, if you have learnt to be a happy person while suffering from acne, you have already come very far. Really the reason you want to get rid of acne is to be happy, and if you have achieved happiness while still suffering from your disease you must have developed and grown alot as a person. So you should be proud of yourself for that.
How extreme do you have to be with sleep, food, exercise you ask? Well that really depends on how much you want to get clear. How much is clear skin worth to you and what are you prepared to exchange for it?
The changes I made to my old lifestyle from eating junk food, going out and getting wasted every weekend, no exercise, bad sleeping habits to -> no alcohol, no drugs, daily exercise, daily meditation & yoga, a strict clean diet etc. at the time were quite ‘extreme’ to me and the people around me, but I REALLY, REALLY wanted clear skin I had had enough of it, so ‘un-balancing’ my life and making an extreme change was my only choice.
Today, the changes which were extreme are now part of my everyday, normal life, so what is ‘extreme’ is really subjective and relative to where you are right now.
Lastly, never give up hope. I know how hopeless it may seem after you feel like you have tried everything under the sun to get clear but still have acne, but believe me if you keep trying you WILL eventually find the answer.
Peace and good luck, if you have any other questions please feel free to ask =)

why aren’t you getting rid of your facial oil anymore? What happens if you do? Or if you don’t?
Thanks again hope for your reply.
hehe! :]

Hi Eric =)
The reason I dont remove too much of my facial oil is because when I do, my skin becomes very dry. When this happens I find that my face gets irritated very easily and I sometimes get small pimples, usually only cheeks and temples. My theory is that facial oil is your body’s natural moisturizer that keeps the moisture and ph levels of your skin balanced, so I don’t interfere too much with it as I believe my body knows what it is doing. If I just splash a little water on my face, or if I don’t remove any at all….. nothing happens! I stay clear =)
I hope this helps and if you have any other questions let me know.

(I’m the same anonymous from posting 4).
I read your postresponse and again it also makes sense. I really do think what you’re doing is great. People in our society that do not experience acne do not realize how bad it really is to deal with – especially when we are bombarded with countless images of what we believe we need to look like.
Anyway i hope people get something great out of this. I enjoy just knowing that others understand.
Thanks,
